LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh met with Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Ijaz on Wednesday to launch a driving course under the supervision of Lahore Traffic Police with in major training institutes of TEVTA.
It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier TEVTA conducted such courses in collaboration with National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) and trained 5,000 drivers. As a result of which, many such drivers were accommodated by transport company like Careem and Uber.
TEVTA Manager PR Sahabzada Khusro, while talking to media, said that the meeting between TEVTA Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Lahore CTO Rai Ijaz was held following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif. Our initiatives would be beneficial for public in the future, he added.
TEVTA Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh also wished to launch state-of-the-art driving course with the assistance of Lahore City Traffic Police. It was further discussed in the meeting such courses would be launched at five training institutes of TEVTA very soon out of which two courses would begin from next month (May) including short courses of LTV and three to six month long courses of HTV.
Lahore CTO Rai Ijaz briefed the TEVTA chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh that the incentive of such courses would be the issuance of license right after induction in the driving course. He said this would serve as an impetus for our untrained drivers and deliver to improve traffic problems and road safety concerns of the public.
