LAHORE: Bernard Francois, head of cooperation, EU delegation to Pakistan, Tuesday called on Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti.
The purpose of the meeting was to share information about an EU programme aimed at strengthening reintegration mechanism for Pakistani returnees, and to gain updated information about initiatives of the OPC for welfare of expatriate Pakistanis.
Afzaal Bhatti told Bernard Francois that innovative steps had been taken to secure the rights of Pakistanis living abroad. “Since its inception, the OPC has executed exceptional performance in resolution of complaints of overseas Pakistanis,” he said.
Afzaal Bhatti said that OPC and EU could work together in management of migration issues. Bernard Francois said that it was encouraging that Punjab had taken a lead by establishing a dedicated institution for welfare of expatriates. OPC Director (Administration) Asad Naeem and Director (Legal) Raja Zubair were also present on the occasion.
