MITHI: Kaloi police on court orders raided a farmhouse and recovered 66 peasants working as bonded labour at the agriculture farm of former MNA Arbab Zakkullah near Kaloi town on Wednesday.
A farmer, Mandhro Kolhi, had filed the application in Sindh High Court, Hyderabad bench, few days ago seeking the liberation of 94 of his community people including children and women.
The applicant alleged that the people were being forced to work for past two years without being given their due share.
The former MNA told local journalists that the allegations of the applicant and others are false and fabricated and that they staged the drama of the ‘private jail’ after taking loans. The liberated peasants were produced in the court on Wednesday evening while others would be produced upon their recovery.
According to the Kaloi Police Station SHO Karim Dad Mangrio, said that during the raid they recovered 66 farmers, while for the recovery of the remaining persons, police was still conducting raids. He revealed that this ‘ private jail’ is the first of its kind in Tharparkar district.
