LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah Monday disposed of a contempt petition after assurance from the Punjab Finance Department that pending amount of pension would be immediately released to 36 retired employees.
An under taking was given on behalf of the department that pending amount of pension would be released to 36 pensioners, who had filed petitions.
The finance secretary informed the court that a summary had been sent to Accountant General Office for release of the funds to the tune of Rs 10 billion. He submitted that the petitioners would receive arrears without any delay while rest of the pensioners would start receiving arrears from July this year.
36 pensioners had moved the contempt petition against non-compliance of the court’s order regarding payment of the pension.
In light of the secretary’s undertaking, the chief justice disposed of the petition.
