ISLAMABAD: The court on Saturday granted a five-day physical remand of anchor Dr Shahid Masood into the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody in Pakistan Television (PTV) corruption case.
According to details, Masood had been arrested by the FIA yesterday in the PTV corruption case from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The anchor was appointed as the PTV chairman in the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) government and is accused of corruption worth about Rs33 million.
Masood’s lawyer Shah Khawar argued that there was no need for a 10-day physical remand of his client as per the FIA’s request during the hearing today.
The judge then asked an FIA official present in the court if the agency had finished conducting an investigation.
The FIA official replied the court that their are few things which needs to be investigated, adding that this is the first remand of Masood after he was arrested from IHC.
The local court then approved a five-day physical remand Masood and ordered the FIA to submit a report regarding its investigation.
Furthermore, the judge ordered Masood be presented in the next hearing on November 28.
