KARACHI: An elderly man, on Tuesday morning, killed his wife and committed suicide afterward in Surjani Town area.
Police reported that the 70-year old identified as Haji Mumtaz killed his physically disabled 65-year old wife Hayat Bibi and then committed suicide. The couple was the resident of Yousuf Goth.
Three bullet shells of 12 bore pistol have been recovered from the site of the incident. The shells have been sent for forensic examination.
Police inspector Mumtaz Ali stated that the couple lived with their son and his second wife, however, at the time of incident no one was at the home.
The inspector remarked that the couple was found dead in their bedroom and there was no one at the house when police reached the site.
The police have recorded statements of neighbors and relatives and further investigations are underway.
