One policeman was martyred and 13 others were injured in an improvised explosive device blast at the General Bus Stand here on Friday.
The device, apparently planted in a motorcycle, exploded when a police patrol passed by the bus terminal, police official Nauman Khan said.
According to police, the injured included citizens and policemen. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Bannu for treatement. Five of the 13 wounded are in critical condition, said Ahsan Khan, an official at the hospital.
Police officials said the IED was detonated via remote control. The explosion also damaged several vehicles and shops in the vicinity.
Police has launched an investigation into the matter.
