SRINAGAR: One Kashmiri youth was killed and over two dozen others were wounded when Indian forces opened fire at anti-government demonstrations on Monday.
The demonstrators had gathered to protest against the killing of two Kashmiris by security forces early Monday.
According to the Indian police, the forces cordoned off Drugbam village after an intelligence information that suspects were hiding in the area earlier.
As the forces initiated a search operations in the village, the suspects opened fire which caused an exchange. Two Kashmiri youth were killed as a result, while two Indian officials were wounded, police said.
Moreover, 15 other residents of the area were wounded in the clashes during the protest, while one succumbed to wounds later in the hospital.
