LAHORE: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Sunday summoned son-in-law for asking undue ‘favours’ in a child custody case.
While hearing a custody case filed against Punjab Highway Patrol DIG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry, Justice Nisar reprimanded son-in-law’s request to provide undue ‘favours’ to the respondent, while he also summoned him to appear today.
The CJP also criticised the DIG saying: “How dare you think that I would bestow undue favours upon you if you request one of my family members for leniency? I am in state of Jihad and you are seeking undue favours?”
Ghulam Mehmood presented an unconditional apology before the SC, but the CJP refused to accept it, while he also directed the DIG to reveal names of those who advised him to do so. He also summoned son-in-law Khalid Rehman, who also appeared before the apex court.
Upon Khalid’s arrival, the CJP said: “you are my son, but not inside the court premises. Tell me, who asked you to put forward such a request?”. To this end, Khalid replied that the DIG had requested him.
The court also directed the two to appear in private chambers for further hearings pertaining the case.
