LAHORE: Interior Minister Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal has on Sunday said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) was against using accountability as a political slogan.
Talking to media, Iqbal said that there must be some reason behind raising the slogan of accountability just ahead of the general elections. He added that PML-N was being targeted in the name of accountability but warned that the people will not tolerate such manoeuvring.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the former president Pervez Musharraf will be provided complete security if he returns to Pakistan. “He need not be afraid. We will provide him with the security that is required”, he said.
However, the interior minister questioned Musharraf’s motives behind the return. He feared there could be some ‘dry cleaning program’ going on in the former president’s mind.
The senior PML-N leader from Narowal urged against hatching conspiracies that might create political instability in the country. He added that the current government had developed Pakistan into a strong economy through its policies.
