DELHI: Arun Marwaha, an Indian Air Force Group Captain, was arrested on Wednesday for sharing sensitive information and documents with two fake Facebook accounts accused of being operated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The 51-year-old was presented before the court on Thursday and later taken into police custody for five days.
According to Indian media, the two accounts pretending to be models, Kiran Randhwa and Mahima Patel, were allegedly operated by ‘Pakistani agents’ to ‘seduce’ the Indian officer and trick him into revealing sensitive information.
Marwaha is said to have befriended the two accounts few months ago and shared images of IAF documents with ‘Pakistani agents’ through Whatsapp.
“They chatted regularly on WhatsApp and also allegedly exchanged intimate messages. The ISI agents also honey-trapped him after obtaining some of his nude pictures,” claimed a special cells officer of the IAF.
The officer’s phone has been seized and sent for forensic examination by the authorities.
