GUJRANWALA: Mayor Sheikh Sarwat Ikram said on Sunday that factories involved in environmental pollution would be sealed and no pressure in this regard would be entertained.
Addressing a meeting, he directed all the officers of municipal corporation to conduct raids at factories that used prohibited fuel such as old tyres, batteries and rubber and take legal action against them. He warned the factory owners to destroy such material that caused environmental pollution.
Youth dies: A youth died in road accident in Gujranwala. Azmat, 18, a resident of Machranwala was travelling on motorcycle when a speeding truck hit him. He died on the spot.
Robbers loot citizens: Dacoits and thieves took away cash, gold ornaments, vehicles, phones and other valuables on Sunday. In Baghbanpura, armed men intercepted Hafeez and looted Rs 27,000, a gold chain and cell phone; in Gaghar Mandi, bandits snatched Rs 35,000, two cell phones from Naveed; in Tatleywali, robbers looted Rs 60,000, gold ornaments and cell phone from Kabeer; in Ahmed Nagar, robbers took away Rs 45,000 and cell phones from Mustafa; in Ferozwala, bandits snatched Rs 100,000, a gold ring and cell phones from Sarfraz; in Ali Pur Chatha, Faisal was deprived of Rs 80,000, two cell phones; in Wahndo, robbers took away Rs 120,000, gold ornaments and three cell phones from Nazir Sheikh; in Saddar Kamoki, robbers looted Sarwat and snatched Rs 63,000, gold ornaments and his cell phone; at Jinnah Road, robbers took away Rs 30,000, a cell phone from Zakaullah; in Saddar Wazirabad, bandits snatched Rs 53,000, three cell phones from Ali Haider; in NowsheraVirkan, robbers snatched Rs 50,000, gold ornaments and cell phones from Ejaz, in Satellite Town, swindlers took away Rs 45,000, cell phones and gold from a woman; in Aroop, armed men took away Rs 17,000, a motorcycle and cell phones from Rauf; in Sohdra, Ehsan Ali was deprived of Rs 70,000, gold and cell phones on gun point; in city Wazirabad, swindlers took away Rs 27,000, two cell phones and gold from a woman, armed men intercepted Masood in Gondlanwala and looted Rs 22,000; in Sadar Gujranwala, Haroon was deprived of Rs 28,000 and cell phones; in People’s Colony, swindlers took away Rs 37,000, two cell phones and gold ring from Nasrullah.
