LAHORE: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) opined that government must step in to promote efficient use of electricity other than just focusing on new power projects.
It further added that energy situation in Pakistan has greatly improved. However, the supply is not sufficient enough and the limited supply of electricity is a potential threat to country’s economy.
The domestic demand has been increasing by 10 percent annually and load-shedding is greatly impacting GDP as it has resulted in Rs 15 billion per annum loss.
However, the energy projects under CPEC would greatly improve the energy situation.
