ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar did not attend the accountability court hearing Today (Wednesday), the court is hearing a corruption reference against him filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
NAB accused the minister of possessing assets which are not mentioned in his declared sources of income.
Similarly Ishaq Dar did not show up at the judicial complex and present himself before the accountability court during the last hearing on November 2.
As the hearing resumed, Ayesha Hamid the finance minister’s representative while submitting proper medical documents, requested the accountability court to grant her client exemption from the appearance on medical basis and go ahead with the case after appointing a legal representative for the minister.
The NAB prosecutor opposed the request and sought issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants for the minister due to his third absence today from the proceedings.
Accountability court Judge Mohammad Bashir dismissed Dar’s exemption plea as well as NAB’s request for the issuance of non-bailable warrants, and ordered for the continuation of the bailable warrants that were issued on October 30, when Dar first skipped proceedings.
He warned that the bail guarantor ensure Dar’s presence in the next hearing otherwise the Rs5 million surety bond would be confiscated.
The court also did not announce a ruling regarding the appointment of a legal representative.
The hearing was then adjourned until November 14.
During the last hearing Dar did not appear due to a similar reason, his medical certificates were provided and the court was told that Dar is in London for medical purposes.
