ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the Oxfam GB on October 6 to promote a culture of prevention, mitigation and enhanced preparedness ahead of disasters to make communities more resilient by jointly working under the umbrella of the national Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) plan.
NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat and Oxfam GB Country Director Mohammad Hassan Qazilbash signed the agreement.
Under the deal, the Oxfam GB will support the authority in execution of the disaster risk reduction plan, besides engaging mutual support of the civil society and the community. Speaking on the occasion, the NDMA chairman said that resilient Pakistan was the major aim of the NDMA and implementation of priority areas of the NDMP would contribute to the resilient of the community at all levels.
