RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has decided to privatize over 12,500 government schools located in province including Rawalpindi.
According to the sources, the Punjab government has also decided to establish an Education Privatization Authority (EPA). The EPA will be established till beginning of new education year i.e. 1st April.
The Authority will be tasked to formulate a list of all the schools including Danish and those functioning under School Education Foundation located in the province. After the formation of list, inspection will be carried out which schools have to be privatized. The list would be forwarded to high education department, who will make a final decision on the move.
However, the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has decided to protest against move and challenge the matter in High Court.
