LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the alleged rape of a woman at Services Hospital in Lahore.
According to details, three-member committee comprising of Services Hospital Principal Dr Mehmood Ayaz, Dr Rubeena Sohail and Professor of Forensic Medicine Dr Arif Rasheed will probe the rape case.
Moreover, the provincial health minister has instructed the head of committee to submit a report on the incident.
On the other hand, first information report (FIR) has been registered by Shadman Police regarding the matter against unknown persons. The FIR says that the 35-year-old woman was admitted at Services Hospital where she underwent treatment for hemorrhoids and was discharged in the evening.
The FIR further stated that the woman found out that she had been allegedly raped after she was taken to Sheikh Zayed Hospital later in the day.
However, Dr Mehmood Ayaz, inquiry committee head, said that they have not found any evidence of rape during the initial investigation. He also termed the incident as a “misunderstanding”.
The inquiry will be completed today, says sources.
Previously, a medical board consisting four lady doctors had been formed for the woman’s medical examination and found no evidence of rape, according to a press release issued by Services Hospital medical superintendent.
