ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Tuesday resumed hearing of Avenfield properties reference case against the Sharif family.
Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif appeared before the court without any counsel.
Earlier on Monday, Haris withdrew himself as Nawaz’s counsel in the all three references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after Supreme Court’s (SC) order to conclude all references within a month.
Although, Haris’s recusal has not been accepted as yet, Judge Mohammad Bashir questioned Nawaz if he’ll hire a new lawyer or convince Haris to continue as his representative.
The former premier to this, said that his counsel had worked for nine months on this case and has taken the decision due to the work pressure in the current conditions.
The SC had directed the accountability court to proceed with the case even on weekends till evenings so a verdict can be announced with 30 days.
Nawaz during the hearing said ‘Nearly 100 attendances have been marked in the case,’ questioning, “Is this case going to be heard 24 hours a day and seven days a week?”
