WASHINGTON: Spokesperson for the United States’ Department of State Helena White said that the US wishes “for the democratic process to continue in Pakistan”, and added that America considers Pakistan a “strong country in the region.”
“Pakistan is our ally in the war against terrorism,” the spokesperson at the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said in an interview with a private news channel.
She added, “We understand the sacrifices the Pakistani military and people have made in the war against terrorism.”
White also said that US President Donald Trump recognised that what was happening in South Asia especially in Pakistan and Afghanistan, was not okay.
White who is also quite fluent in Urdu, said that Pakistan is an important country in the region, and it should collaborate with Washington in forming a new regional strategy for South Asia.
