KARACHI: Police have registered a blasphemy case against unidentified persons after wall-chalking appeared in the northern areas of Karachi.
The Police peacefully dispersed the angry mob which gathered at the site protesting against the walk chalking, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Dr Rizwan Khan said.
“The angry people also surrounded a family in a car out of misunderstanding. But when someone inside the car shot in the air, they dispersed,” said the SSP adding that police cordoned off the family’s house and moved them to a safe location due to security concerns.
Last month, human rights committee of the Senate recommended that anyone who put false accusations of blasphemy should be awarded a similar punishment prescribed for a convict of blasphemy.
