LAHORE: Taking a dig at former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday lashed out at the parliament for permitting a ‘criminal’ to be elected as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president.
“I curse the parliament that made a criminal the president of a party,” Imran said while addressing Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s joint protest rally with leading political parties of the country.
Khan further stated that he had no doubt in Sharif brothers’ involvement in Model Town incident and that protesters were shot at according to the orders received by the police.
“The two Sharif brothers are responsible for the Model Town incident. I can say without a speck of doubt that Model Town incident was done on orders received by the police,” said the PTI chief.
He also accused Punjab police of intentionally shooting at unarmed civilians, adding that nowhere else in the world does such an act of ‘police brutality’ happens.
