ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Monday recorded the statements of the witnesses in the reference regarding Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Ishaq Dar’s assets beyond means.
The three prosecution witnesses recorded their statements before Justice Muhammad Bashir in the presence of the lawyers of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Ishaq Dar.
National Assembly (NA) Secretariat Director Sherdil Khan told the court that Ishaq Dar remained the member of NA from 1993 to 1996 and then went on to become a minister after being re-elected in the 1997 assembly.
During the 1993-96 assembly, Ishaq Dar’s monthly salary was Rs 14,000, he told the court.
Other witnesses to record their statements today included a private bank officer Faisal Shahzad, Ministry of Commerce Director Qamar Zaman and Cabinet Division Deputy Secretary Wasif Hussain.
Faisal Shahzad provided the bank account details of Ishaq Dar’s wife.
The case against Ishaq Dar had been filed on the orders of Supreme Court bench hearing the Panama Papers case. Dar is currently in London to receive medical treatment and the accountability court has declared him a proclaimed offender for not appearing before the court despite repeated warnings.
