LAHORE: The police, on Sunday, claimed arresting a key suspect in the cases of knife attacks on women in Karachi.
According to a police official, Waseem, the mastermind of these attacks was arrested from Mandi Bahauddin, a district of Punjab, in a joint police operation conducted by the Sindh and Punjab Police.
“The details about Waseem’s involvement in knife attacks on women in Karachi will be disclosed after further investigation,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Sultan Ali Khawaja told the media.
He said, “Waseem will be shifted to Karachi after the completion of legal formalities.”
According to the sources, a number of cases of the same nature were registered against him between 2013 and 2014.
Since September 25, at least, 15 knife attacks on women by a motorcycle rider have been reported in Karachi’s eastern district.
