ISLAMABAD – A FIR was filed against lawyers in the Ramna police station by Inspector Shakeel Ahmed for slapping and pushing him in the establishment of the accountability court on Friday.
A group of lawyers were shown in a video pushing Ahmed, one of them also slapped Inspector Ahmed as the policeman were stationed to perform their duties outside the court to provide security as the indictment proceedings against the Sharif went on.
A disruption caused by the members of a legal fraternity on Friday forced the accountability court judge to adjourn the proceeding against the Sharif family minutes after it got initiated.
Maryam Nawaz and her husband MNA Capt (retd) Safdar reached the judicial complex separately, while many senior leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), including cabinet members, were present there to receive the daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
There was a reported incident of injury of at least one lawyer, outside the court as a scuffle broke out with the police.
As the hearing proceeded, many lawyers began protesting inside the court.
They claimed the Islamabad High Court has allowed lawyers to be present inside the judicial complex as well as the accountability court as “as if it’s an open ground”.
The lawyers further argued with the deputy attorney general and created a scene of commotion, forcing Mohammad Bashir to leave his camber and postpone today’s proceedings.
