KARACHI: The main accused involved in misappropriation of Rs 143 million was arrested by National Accountability Bureau NAB on Sunday.
Mushtaq Ahmed Qaiser, a resident of Lahore, was wanted in a corruption case. The arrested accused was nominated in an investigation, along with nine other persons, on charges of misappropriating imported urea fertilizer. The accused was serving as Manager Distribution in National Fertilizer Marketing Limited and was responsible for ensuring transparent marketing and distribution of imported urea at the farmer’s level.
However, he in connivance with other accused including owners of business concerns misappropriated urea worth Rs 143 million that was imported by Government of Pakistan through Trading Corporation of Pakistan. Another accused person named Shaukatullah one of the owners of M/S Shahmeer Tally is already under judicial remand.
