KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday continued its sit-in outside Governor House in Karachi for second consecutive day against K-Electric’s inflated bills and load-shedding.
The protest was led by the party leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. The protest is aimed at providing affectees with platform for a legal battle against KE. The party has vowed to approach Supreme Court of Pakistan for justice.
The JI says KE’s de-rated production capacity is 2093 megawatt while NTDC provides 650 and IPPs provide it with 350 megawatt of electricity. “The KE administration is imposing load shedding despite the fact that the production capacity of the company is more than the requirement.”
The party has announced to carry on the protest till their demands are fulfilled. They have urged the federal and provincial government to return millions of rupees of the Karachi people.
