LAHORE: A man allegedly killed his sister for honour in Lower Mall police limits on Thursday.
The deceased woman, identified as Shazia, was a resident of Ibrahim Road Bilal Gunj.
According to police, Shazia had married a man, Hassan, few months ago on her will. Police said Shazia’s parents had filed a petition against her husband in a court. However, court ordered both parties to resolve the issue at local level.
On the day of incident, Shazia along with her husband and two female relatives was present at the office of UC-56 to discuss the issue when her brother Akram entered the office and opened firing on them, killing Shazia on the spot while injuring two women. However, Akram managed to escape.
Upon being informed, police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. Police also removed the dead body to a city mortuary for an autopsy and registered a case against Akram on the complaint of deceased’s husband Hassan.
Separately, a 25-year-old man committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the limits of Hayer police.
The deceased has been identified as Amir Latif. Police and rescuers shifted the man to a local hospital where he expired. Police shifted the dead body to a morgue and further investigation is underway.
