LARKANA: A Constitutional Petition (CP) has been filed in the Sindh High Court Circuit Court, Larkana, under article 199 of the Constitution for the repair of the embankment on Indus River at village Hakra. Petitioner Wazir Ali, son of Muhammad Bachal Hulio, and resident of village Hakra, has filed a CP against respondents, Chief Engineer, Sukkur Barrage Right Bank, Superintendent Engineer Irrigation Western Sindh Circle, Executive Engineer, Northern Dadu Division,Larkana, and Government of Sindh through the Irrigation Secretary to strengthen the embankment on the Indus River at village Hakra. The embankment is eroding very fast and can be broken any time. The petitioner further submitted that as a result, the historical site of Mohenjo Daro, Cadet College Dokri, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Areeja village, Quaid-e-Awam Engineering College Larkana,and large number of villages could be destroyed.
