KARACHI: Panic gripped a North Nazimabad locality after unidentified motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade apparently intending to target an Imambargah on Tuesday evening.
The hand grenade was found along the wall of Imambargah Saqa-e-Sakina in Block-Q, North Nazimabad within the limits of Sharae Noor Jahan police station. Upon receiving the information, police and experts from the bomb disposal squad immediately reached the site.
Police officials and witnesses said that the hand grenade was lobbed by at least two armed men riding a motorcycle at Imambargah; however, luckily it did not explode. Sharae Noor Jahan SHO Abdul Ghaffar said that the armed motorcyclists intended to target the Imambargah; however, luckily, they were not successful as the grenade did not detonate.
He said that the experts from the BDS were trying to defuse it, adding that the militant outfits could have been behind the incident while further investigation was underway.
