LAHORE: A woman councillor of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was allegedly shot dead by her brother-in-law over some domestic issue in Shahdra police jurisdiction on Saturday.
The deceased woman has been identified as Shahida Parveen.
According to police, Shahida Parveen’s sister had left the house of her husband Gulzar- the accused – and started living with Shahid Parveen along with her two daughters.
Police said that Shahida Parveen had also got registered an FIR against her brother-in-law Gulzar at the Shahdra Police Station.
On the day of incident, the accused came to her sister-in-law Shaida’s home along with his unidentified accomplices where he fired gunshot at Shahida after an exchange of harsh words. The accused easily managed to flee. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury. Police removed the dead body to the city mortuary and did not register the case till the filing of this report.
Separately, a man strangled his friend to death over some minor issue in Mozang police limits.
As per details, two friends Adnan and Ali Raza– who are said to be members of the transgender community – had a quarrel with each other over some minor issue when Adnan got infuriated and strangled Ali Raza, 21, to death. Police reached the spot and shifted the dead body to a morgue after arresting the accused. Further investigation was underway.
Also, a 20-year-old youth was crushed to death while crossing railway lines in Ghari Shahu area.
The deceased, identified as Ibrahim, was crossing the railway tracks near Ghari Shahu when a speedy train hit him badly resulting into his instant death. Police handed over the dead body to heirs after fulfilling legal formalities.
