Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi was shifted on Thursday to Camp Jail in Lahore from Attock Jail.
Abbasi, who has been facing life imprisonment in the ephedrine quota case, was shifted to Attock jail on the directives of Rawalpindi DIG after his photograph with ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif inside Adiala Jail surfaced.
On July 22, special anti-narcotics court sentenced PML-N leader to life imprisonment for selling as much as 500kg of controlled chemical ephedrine to the narcotics smugglers.
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had registered a case against Abbasi and his accomplices in June 2012 under various sections of the Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Act. The anti-narcotics court had indicted Hanif Abbasi and the other accused in 2014.
