ISLAMABAD: According to the new details that emerged on Thursday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) scion Hamza Shahbaz owns net assets worth over Rs 411 million while his father and former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif possesses assets totaling over Rs 159 million.
The financial details of the two PML-N leaders and their dependents were mentioned in the statements of assets and liabilities submitted by them along with their nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to contest the July 25 general elections.
Both Hamza and Shahbaz have declared their two wives each as their dependents.
According to the details of assets, Hamza Shahbaz owns 11 pieces of non-agricultural land and properties in Lahore worth over Rs 136 million. He also owns 150 kanals of agricultural land worth Rs 30 million. He has shares in 21 companies, including sugar and textile mills, worth nearly Rs 133 million. He has nearly Rs 4.4 million as bank balance and cash/prize bonds but owns no vehicles, as per the documents.
His wife Mehrunisa Hamza has net wealth worth Rs 2.2 million. His other wife Rabia Hamza has net wealth worth Rs 39.4 million.
According to the documents, PML-N President and former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif owns non-agricultural property worth Rs 14.8 million in Lahore and Murree. He owns 670 kanals of agricultural land worth Rs 35,000 only, since most of it is stated to be a gift from his mother.
However, an amount worth Rs 108.9 million has been shown by him as liability in the documents.
He owns two flats in London worth £241,281 and £677,014 each and shares in several mills including Hudaibiya Paper Mills worth Rs 273,000 (all inherited from father).
Shahbaz owns a ‘partially gifted’ Toyota Land Cruiser (2006 model) worth Rs 6.3 million and has Rs 11.4 million in bank balance and cash/prize bonds.
His wife Nusrat Shahbaz owns two houses worth a total of Rs 185.7 million. She owns a 10-kanal house in Model Town which has been valued at Rs 128.7 million along with a Rs 57million lodge in Murree’s Doonga Gali. Her total property in Kasur has been estimated at Rs 2.6 million. She possesses shares worth Rs 8.7 million in different companies. She has jewellery worth Rs 1.7 million and accounts in five different banks with a balance of Rs 18.9 million.
His other wife Tehmina Durrani has net assets worth Rs 5.8 million. She owns a 10-marla house in Defence Housing Authority in Lahore and has five bank accounts, with a cumulative balance of Rs 0.5 million. She also received four properties in Haripur as gifts and possesses jewellery and a vehicle worth Rs 1.5 million and Rs 0.5 million respectively.
