ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday suggested conducting general elections at the end of July, sources informed.
Sources reported that the ECP was considering July 25th or 26th for the date of the elections.
The ECP has also started working on the schedule of elections which will then be forwarded to the President, sources added.
After the summary would be approved by the President, the ECP would issue a schedule for polls.
Reports also claimed that the Commission has set a period of four weeks between the submission of nomination papers and putting up the lists of final candidates.
The ECP has set a period of 8 days for careful examination of nomination papers, sources told the media.
The current government will complete its five year tenure on 31 May. The caretaker government will then govern the country until a new government is formed after the general elections.
