ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar on Tuesday appeared in the accountability court for a hearing of references against him.
Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan terms his fake submitted documents as real.
Talking to media at the accountability court, Maryam insisted that the case against the Sharif family was groundless. “First it was said that the flats are mine and later the same property was put in the name of Nawaz Sharif. We ourselves provided all the documents submitted in court,” she said.
“They ask us how the assets were formed. You should prove the corruption as the accusation has been leveled by you. Imran Khan admitted that the offshore company belonged to him but he was declared righteous,” added Maryam.
Captain (r) Safdar said about prosecution witness and former head of the Panama case joint investigation team, Wajid Zia, that he had signed a pre-written report and did not know what was inside.
“Who has written the report?” asked a journalist. “There are many significant spiritual leaders in the country. Any one of them could have written it,” he remarked ironically.
