LAHORE: The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mardan Dr. Saeed Muhammad on Wednesday said that the prime suspect behind Asma murder case has confessed to the crime, adding that he is victim’s cousin and juvenile (15-years-old).
Briefing the media, the RPO said that the case has been cracked. He said this was a case of sexual assault ‘but attempted rape’ and explained that the rapist met with severe resistance from the victim. This was when the suspect killed her.
The RPO said that the body fragments and DNA swabs helped crack the case and that the suspect will be presented before court. He told the media that the suspect worked at a restaurant in Peshawar and was visiting in Mardan for a wedding.
“The culprit is a close relative of the victim,” he said.
