LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that the protest rally of the opposition parties held on Lahore’s The Mall calling for justice over the Model Town incident had failed miserably.
Maryam in a serious of tweets on Wednesday said that the protesting opposition parties were not even able to fill up the ’empty seats’, and added that the people had rejected such political antics.
“These empty chairs are proof that the people endorse the viewpoint of Nawaz Sharif, that conspirators should wait till 2018 and beyond.”
The PML-N leader further said that the people had rejected such antics being carried out for the last four years, and “this will be evident after the next general election”. “In 2018 election, they will be fuel for the people’s fury.” She added that those who went to seek resignations had resigned themselves.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Information Maryam Aurangzeb while scoffing at the number of people present in the joint opposition’s public gathering claimed that a councilor of the PML-N could gather more people than those present at the PAT’s rally.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, she said, “A container is passionately prepared after every two years. Those who are politicising the Model Town incident have received a reply (from nation) today.”
She said there was no place in the country for those practicing politics of empty rhetoric and termed the rally a union of political cousins. She challenged the opponents to disclose the name of even one project that had been completed in their province.
