LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has formed a new bench on Tuesday to hear a petition against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s 17th January protest against the government.
The new three-judge bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan and consisting of Justices Shahid Jamil Khan and Shahid Karim is expected to hear the petition later today.
Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan was initially assigned to head the bench, but he opted to separate himself from the case due to personal reasons.
AK Dogar, a legal expert, had petitioned the LHC stating that the political parties should refrain from being part of the anti-state protest.
Earlier, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahirul Qadri announced sit-ins seeking resignations of Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sanaullah for their alleged role in 2014 shooting of party workers outside Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Lahore.
