LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday called Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal and Chaudhrys of Gujrat ‘political robots’ for supporting Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said the country’s politics was revolving around deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, as all parties were trying to cash in by taking anti- or pro-Nawaz positions.
He said political opponents were announcing their allegiances to Qadri for their own political gains and to topple the PML-N government. Qadri had threatened the government of yet another protest sit-in, and directed his workers to be on their toes after the Punjab government made the judicial inquiry report on Model Town incident public.
Since then, Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf among other opposition parties, including the PML-Q, have met Qadri, assuring him of full support in his proposed anti-government protests. Kamal is the latest to jump onto Qadri’s bandwagon.
“We know that a heavy price has to be paid for standing up to defend supremacy of constitution… but we will not back out without ensuring supremacy of the civilian rule,” Rafique said.
