LAHORE: Workers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) staged a demonstration on GT Road after they were stopped by the police from going to Islamabad for the party’s 50th anniversary on Tuesday.
PPP Jialas were flocking from all over the country to participate in the public gathering at Parade ground Islamabad today.
According to reports, hundreds of PPP workers were forced to walk for a long distance as GT Road was blocked in the Rawat area of Muree.
PPP flexes political muscle
Thousands of workers from all over the country gathered there in the capital to mark the party’s foundation day.
PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated their workers on the 50th anniversary of the party.
Senior party leaders including PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, PPP Islamabad leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also addressed the rally.
DJ Butt, known for dominating the music scene at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Islamabad sit-in in 2014, was hired by PPP to mix the beats in today’s rally.
