LAHORE: The members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) of Punjab have condemned the conduct of discount sales under the banner of “Black Friday” in Pakistan.
Black Friday, usually celebrated in the United States, is regarded as the first day of the Christmas shopping season on which retailers make many special offers for customers.
Leader of Opposition Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed demanded a ban on celebrating “Black Friday”, saying Friday is a blessed day for the Muslim.
However, it was being celebrated in Pakistan on 24 November under the different titles such as “Blessed Friday”, “Bright Friday”, “Big Friday” etc.
Khatm-e-Nubuwwat in curriculum
Punjab Assembly has also passed a resolution to make belief in “Khatm-e-Nubuwwat” a part of the curriculum.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Waheed Gul presented the bill in the assembly which states that the firm belief in Khatm-e-Nubuwwat must be mandatory for every Muslim student.
“Defending Khatm-e-Nabuwwat is part of Muslim faith,” Gul said.
He urged the government to implement the “unanimously” passed resolution immediately.
