HYDERABAD: Hyderabad, the second most populous city of Sindh after Karachi has been known for its historic sites.
Rani Bagh, Resham Gali, Thandi Sarak and Phul Gali (formerly known as Khadra Gali) are some of them. The Phul Gali is in proximity of Naval Rai Market (Tower Market) which is known of flowers selling spots, Haji Wazeer Ali Hotel, a place where dumb and deaf persons in groups meet with each others. They used to order for tea by knocking kettle and table.
A flowers shop owner, Irshad Ali around 30 years said that this has been our inherited business and we have been keeping it in the same way from past 60 years. Phul Gali also called as Khadra Gali (transgender street), having a large number abodes of this community. Name of Phul Gali is the outcome of their persisted demand in past and administration on accepting this named it Phul Gali.
But general public under traditional thinking keeps this impoverished community aloof from them.
It is our dilemma that we are not ready to give them right to work in professions and trade. They have been deprived of every facility on pretext of disliking by general public. The transgender has also been given the right to cast vote in elections and to actively participate in politics but people were not ready to change mindset regarding them, equally treat them irrespective and give them right to live as they want.
