ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, was awarded the Legion of Merit in recognition of his services for promotion of defence ties between air forces of the two countries at a ceremony held on Tuesday at Turkish Air Force Headquarters in Istanbul.
The air chief was presented with a guard of honour on his arrival at the headquarters.
Later, Air Marshal Sohail Aman met General Abidin Ünal, Turkish Air Force commander, at his office. The two officers discussed matters of professional and mutual interests in the meeting.
The air chief highlighted Pakistan’s efforts in its ongoing counter terrorism operations. He said Pakistan and Turkey should enhance cooperation in internal security, training, and information technology fields.
General Abidin Ünal lauded the role played by the PAF in the success of Zarb-e-Azb operation. He thanked the air chief for his role in enhancing defence ties between the countries.
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman also met Dr Ismail Demir, the undersecretary for Turkish defence industries, during the visit.
