KARACHI: Pakistan has great energy resources and with strategic planning and adopting energy conservation practices, we can save substantial energy costs and can ensure a bright future for our coming generations”, this was stated by Col. (R) Mubashar Javed, Mayor of Lahore while speaking at the seminar on “Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Future”, organized by the “Punjab Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (PEECA), Government of Punjab” on Tuesday. The seminar was also attended by the Engr. Jawed Salim Qureshi, Chairman of Pakistan Engineering Council and a large number of energy experts.
The Mayor highly appreciated the efforts of PEECA and further stated that by creating awareness regarding energy conservation, we can save substantial costs and resources which will lead in enhancing a nature friendly environment to ensure a sustainable future for our coming generations.
The seminar presented comprehensive overview on energy efficiency and energy management system and highlighted the importance of energy saving opportunities in the industrial sector to a broad audience consisting of utility and power sectors representatives, business and industrial professionals, builders, small/mid scale constructors, architects and housing scheme.
Meanwhile, Qasim Khokhar, Managing Director PEECA, in his opening remarks welcomed the distinguished guests and described the vision of Punjab Government to create awareness among the masses for promotion of energy efficiency and conservation measures in Punjab, by conducting regular Awareness Programs under the umbrella of Punjab Energy Department.
“Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Future” turned out to be a high profile gathering of country’s prominent speakers from various recognized forums of the related industry, presented their papers and discussed the topics on: Pakistan’s Energy Scenario and need for Energy Conservation, Energy efficiency and energy management system (ISO 50001), Energy efficiency with LED Lights and Energy saving opportunities in our industries.
