KARACHI: A sessions court granted bail to two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers and other protesters in a case of rioting at the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) office.
The additional district and sessions judge (south) approved bail for two provincial lawmakers – Samar Ali Khan and Dr Seema Zia – and three other protesters – Adiba Aslam, Khalid and Ahmed Khan – against surety bonds amounting to Rs 10,000 each.
Darakshan police registered an FIR against PTI leader Dr Arif Alvi, three legislators – Samar Ali Khan, Khurram Sherzaman and Dr Seema Zia – and other protesters on the complaint of a CBC official.
The PTI leaders along with residents of Clifton and Defence held a protest at the CBC office on April 7th against the imposition of a tax on the water supply through tankers and demanded water to be supplied through the pipelines in place.
According to the FIR, the PTI leaders forced entry into the CBC office and caused property damage.
