ISLAMABAD: The executive committee members of the Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have expressed concern over what they believed curtailing of powers of vice presidents and barring them from appointing regional standing committees by president Zubair Tufail.
A joint statement issued by Mian Usman Zulfiqar, Fehmida Jamali, Dr Shella Javed Akram, Mian Anjum Nisar, Fakhruddin Khan, Shahidur Rehman and Mohammad Wazir said that from the last many years it was the practice that the regional chairmen to appoint chairmen of the Standing Committee to address problems of the regional business community.
The statement said that Zubair Tufail, with a dictatorial mindset, has issued directives baring vice presidents and regional chairmen to make such appointments in future. They said that the FPCCI president was doing these types of things on wishes of TDAP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SM Munir which is sheer violation of the FPCCI rules and regulations.
The vice presidents used to select from their respective district chambers and associations regional committees to address the issues. They said that the FPCCI president has no moral and legal authority to sabotage their powers. Former FPCCI president Senator Ghulam Ali said that they would raise the issue in the coming executive committee meeting that on what grounds Zubair Tufail snatched powers of the vice presidents.
