PESHAWAR. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has yet to act on the provision of parking space centres for Edhi ambulances in different districts of the province.
According to an official of the Edhi Foundation in Peshawar, the KP government had promised after the death of Abdul SattarEdhi to provide centres across the province for the purpose of parking for Edhi ambulances. However, the official addedthat even though six months had passed, no centres had been provided yet.
The Edhi Foundation has at least 150 ambulances across KP for the provision of free services to anyone in need. But since there is no centre for operations, the ambulances have to be parked outside hospitals on the main roads, causing problems not only to commuters.
Upon inquiry about the issue, a member of the Provincial Assembly said that letters to provide centres for the organisation would be issued soon.
