LONDON: A suspect on Saturday attempted to enter the room of former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz in London’s Harley Street Clinic.
According to the hospital authorities, the suspect was identified as Naved who attempted to barge in Kulsoom Nawaz’s room. Although, Naveed said that he had showed a visitors card to the security personnel, claiming to be the former PM’s wife’s doctor.
The incident occurred on the first floor of the Harley Street Clinic’s first floor.
After the incident, Hussain Nawaz in a statement said that the police had taken the suspect out of the ward.
He added that the already grieving family going through distress was further disturbed by this incident, as the suspect had surpassed the security and somehow managed to reach Begum Kulsoom.
Hussain further said that he was aware of who the the suspect was, but still it did not mean that he be at a place where he had no concern with.
On the other hand,, the hospital authorities confirmed that the security was informed about Dr Naveed and the footage of his entry and his conversation with the security has been provided to the police.
According to the police, Dr Naveed has been interviewed and cautioned not to go near the Sharif family or will be prosecuted.
The police found videos in his cell phone, made inside the clinic.
Hospital authorities said that the matter will be reported to the general medical council (GMC) which regulates doctors.
Earlier, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was shifted to the intensive care unit after she suffered from a cardiac arrest. Nawaz’s ailing wife was earlier placed on a ventilator after her condition deteriorated on Thursday night.
