The Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended the Senate membership of former finance minister Ishaq Dar after he failed to appear before the court on Tuesday despite several earlier orders.
Counsel for Dar told the court that his client was unwell and undergoing treatment abroad, thus he had been unable to appear before the court despite various earlier orders. He said his client would appear once he gets well. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar rejected the medical report of Dar and noted that whenever someone falls ill, his fresh medical certificate is presented before the court. The chief justice noted that Dar would have to appear before the court one day.
Later, the court observed that further hearing would be conducted after Eidul Fitr.
