ISLAMABAD: The contempt of court case against State Interior Minister Tallal Chaudry has been adjourned indefinitely as the bench hearing the matter stood dissolved on Monday.
The three-member bench got dissolved owing to the retirement of Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, who was heading the bench.
During the hearing of the case on Monday, Justice Khan remarked that the minister will be given full opportunity to present his defence.
At the last hearing on May 4, the minister’s counsel, Kamran Murtaza, had requested the apex court to adjourn the hearing until May 7.
Tallal Chaudry was held in contempt after he made allegedly anti-judiciary remarks at a PML-N rally earlier this year.
The apex court then initiated contempt proceedings against Chaudry on February 2. He was indicted in the case, and he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The next hearing of the case will now be held after the chief justice forms a new bench.
