LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Monday that PML-N and not PPP is scared of terrorists because “Taliban were behind Nawaz’s success in 2013 elections.”
“Nawaz league is scared of the Taliban because Nawaz came to power because of them, Justice Iftikhar and Gen Pervaiz Kiyani. PPP has suffered attacks, but we are scared of no terrorists,” Kaira said while speaking to the media.
He continued that it was the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) which initiated operations against extremist elements in Bajaur and Waziristan. Moreover, he added, the party also spearheaded the Swat operations and helped 3 million people return to their homes.
Continuing his criticism of the PML-N, the PPP central Punjab president said that at a time when the armed forces of the country were at the forefront in the battle against terrorism, PML-N were suggesting to negotiate with the Taliban.
“In addition to Nawaz, PTI’s head Imran Khan also wanted to negotiate with the Taliban. He was, in fact, in favour of giving the Taliban an office in Peshawar,” Kaira added.
He also slammed the Nawaz-league for taking credit of the Karachi operation. “Peace in Karachi is solely due to the efforts of the Rangers and the Police, and only they deserve the due credit,” he emphasised.
